RUGGED BAY OF FUNDY COAST
A strenuous wilderness journey above beaches, brooks and the extraordinary tides of the Bay of Fundy.
COASTAL BACKCOUNTRY
The Footpath connects the Fundy Trail Provincial Park area near St. Martins to the boundary of Fundy National Park. Together with park approaches, the association’s safety guide describes a 64.3 km journey. The wilderness trail alone is measured differently by various providers. Always confirm the route and distances using current guides.
Plan roughly four or more days, weather and ability depending.
Goose Creek and other crossings may become impassable. Consult official tide tables.
Repeated climbs, water crossings and irregular phone service demand preparation.
Jack McKay blazed early sections in the 1980s. The Léger brothers and later FHTA volunteers helped reopen and extend the route. Ongoing stewardship preserves a remarkable coastal wilderness experience.
Plan tides, campsites and park permits before hiking.
