President’s update
Hello hikers!
Welcome to another edition of The Presidents Trail News!
Let’s get caught up on what’s happening along the Dobson Trail and the Fundy Footpath.
First, some trail maintenance!
Please respect the land. Whether its Crown, Municipal, Private or whatever classification. Leave
No Trace and Nothing Left Behind, please respect any signs and keep updated on the New
Brunswick Burn conditions.
With the recent wildfire that spread across the Dobson, it is as important now to adhere to fire
bans, and trail conditions. We will do our best to keep you updated, but you need to do your
best to ensure your journey is safe.
It is also important to note, to get the Dobson Trail back into a beautiful path, it takes volunteer
time, money and the hiking community.
The Fundy Hiking Trails Association provides funds to our volunteers to ensure they can keep
the trail clear, the FHTA uses any funds for equipment, trail projects and admin costs. We would
love for you to be an FHTA member, or if you’d like to make a donation, both links are on our
website https://fundyhikingtrails.com/
Your support will keep the legacy of Dobson Trail, and the Fundy Footpath world class.
Next important news item: FUNDY FOOTPATH DETOUR!
Fundy National Park is closing Point Wolf Bridge. No bridge access to Point Wolfe Area from
September 8, 2026 until December 2026. If you’re hiring the FFP, you’ll have to use the trail
head at Bennet Brook, or Foster Brook (highlighted in yellow on the map). Be cautious of river
crossings.

More trail news! Its been a busy couple of months at the FHTA!
Huge congratulations to Tanya Cormier and the volunteers who put on a great Dobson in Day! It
was really fun to meet all the participants, and everybody who conquered their own challenge
that day :)
Fundy Footpath Trailmaster Gary organized a Volunteer Trail Day in May, where a great group
gathered to clean up the Jim Brook access trail, huge thank to everyone who came out!
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Happy trails!
