Temporary Fire reroute on Dobson Trail

7:39 a July 31 2026

Hello hikers!

FHTA President here..

Here’s an update on the wildfire burn near km 11/Dawson Rd area.

The fire is under control, but that section of the Dobson Trail is closed.

We’ve been in contact with EMO/DNR, they’ve assured us, the Dobson Trail can still be hiked, except for the area near km 11..

From the Riverview Trail Head-Pine Glen Rd – km 1 – you can hike until you can’t hike anymore.

If you are thru hiking the Dobson Trail to Fundy National Park (amazing!) Or vice versa, you will be detoured near km 11 (posted below). Expect a longer hike, and it will be on a road. But it is summer so enjoy New Brunswick’s awesomeness!

You will need to detour around the area using Sandhill Side Trail, Pine Glen Road and the NB Power access road, marked on the map below.

We will do our best to mark the new detour, our trail monitors will evaluate in the coming days.

We really appreciate the efforts of all emergency services, Public Safety officers, and most importantly the front line crew battling the blazes. Your efforts are celebrated. Always be safe 🙂

We also appreciate you, the hiker, and your understanding.

Of course thanks to the landowners, without you there’d be no Dobson Trail.

The main Riverview Parking lot is open, caveat…. if there’s an official from the Province, Public Safety or law enforcement at the entrance-please respect their ask, they may not have been notified of communications.

Respect for the land and each other.

DNR will have clean up to do and our Dobson Trail Monitors will do the finishing touches to ensure your journey to the Fundy Coast ( or from the coast to Riverview) is exceptional as you expect.

We have a world class Trail system, with world class volunteers and hikers, and of course world class fire fighters.

Thank you for your understanding now, and in the years to come.

We will be notified when the Dobson Trail completely reopens.

Happy trails!
